Blondie: Vivir En La Habana

I produced and post-produced a three-part experimental documentary on Blondie in Havana. Up against the constraints of a severely low budget, I helped make sure this project got across the line by finding time, resources and the right talent to bring on-board. It’s been incredibly validating and exciting to have been accepted to three major global festivals in 2021. We have also been asked to be in the premiere of all three festivals including:
The Tribeca Film Festival, See You Sound Festival, and one major festival in the UK
(Announcing soon).

Maya’s Flowers

This Spring I helped launch a DTC floral business. What started as an experiment by Passion Growers to build a direct-to-consumer arm of the business proved to be a viable business idea. I was brought on to do a rapid launch with a limited budget. I worked with the Passion Growers family (and former Penn classmate, Steven Peisach) to build out a Shopify site and take the company to market for Mother’s Day. I did all of our branding, web design, photography, packaging etc. We launched Maya’s in under five weeks. By the end of the project we doubled our daily revenues and Passion decided to move forward with going DTC even more officially.

Adidas S.E.E.D School

Committed to breaking down barriers faced by young creators, Adidas developed S.E.E.D., the School for Experiential Education in Design, and welcomed their inaugural class of six talented women to school at the Brooklyn Creator Farm.

I built and led the 15-person post-production team that brought the story of S.E.E.D to life. I recruited ten top editors, three motion designers, two colorists, one composer and one sound mixer. In two weeks we created eight films – capturing the school, the faculty behind it and the women of Generation 2020. We exported over 60 different versions of the films with unique export settings for Adidas marketing and social teams globally.

Future x 1800 Tequila: 1800 Seconds

Future teamed up with 1800 Tequila to curate an original album with seven rising artists. Each of the seven new artists, chosen by Future and the A+R team, were challenged to write and record an entirely new track to present their unique sound to the world during a week of studio sessions. Matte was hired to document the experience.

I built and managed the incredible creative post-production team and project as we developed over 15 creative films for the campaign to be released across social, web, OOH and Spotify. Notably, our team produced a 10-minute stylized documentary on the making of the album in under ten days. Additionally, we produced seven artist profiles and three short-form promos within one week. The fusion of creative editing, directorship, color, audio and motion design in this space was remarkable. I was honored to have helped put the pieces together to make this happen.

Google x Annie Leibowitz

Photographer Annie Leibovitz embarked on a series of portraits, shot exclusively on Google’s new Pixel 4 – portraying individuals who are changing the landscape of their time. From an environmental caretaker, to an army officer, to an equal justice lawyer, Leibovitz photographs her subjects in the places they live & work.

Each shoot was attended by a small crew and filmed with a handheld camera by another creative producer on the project. Hours of footage were delivered to my desk and it was my job to help figure out how to tell the story of the campaign. I staffed a director, editor, motion designer, assistant editor and composer on the project we figured out how to turn endless hours of shaky BTS into 12 cinematic edits about Leibovitz’s process and stories of the change-makers. We worked with Company 3 to achieve the highest quality color grade,

Bloomberg: New Economy Forum

Matte was hired to create all of the on-screen content for the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Shanghai in 2019. The job was a complete post-production job and one of the larger and more complicated jobs I’ve managed to date. I hired and led a team of researchers, motion designers, editors, composers and assistant editors. Creative direction was established by the brilliant director Derek Fearon, I made sure his vision was translated to the screen.

Spartan: Race to One Million

Produced a documentary for ESPN. In 2018, determined to raise awareness for the sport and its racers, Spartan founder and CEO Joe De Sena unleashed a challenge that many deemed impossible: win the Spartan World Championship in Tahoe, the Trifecta Championships in Greece, and the 100 Mile Ultra Championships in Iceland and walk away with a one million.
